Blog-o-versary | Fifteen years of blogging about tapestry weaving

How ever did I get to fifteen years on this blog? I suppose one week at a time is how that happened. I started the blog on April 20, 2008 and that makes it 15 years today.

What on earth have I talked about for fifteen years? The digital pages have been full of stories relating to tapestry weaving and now and then a peek inside other parts of my life. Remember the skunk house when I lived in southern Colorado? Or the Colorado Trail thru-hike in 2022? Those weren’t very tapestry related, but I found them fun to write about. There have been knitted creatures and all sorts of fiber-filled adventures along the way.

The blog is also full of useful information if you’re a tapestry weaver. I’ve talked about yarn and looms and technique and design and that is my primary goal in continuing to write it, creating a resource for information about tapestry weaving.

What about the Petrified Forest residency where I wove a tiny tapestry every day for a month? Or the tapestry tour in France in 2019? How about Iceland in 2022?

All together, the blog has been a sort of journal for me. I’ll admit I don’t always strive to keep it professional because I love reading blogs that are a mix of hands-on information I can use but also interesting stories to read. The very first post is pictured below. I titled it “A new way of journaling…” (You can still find that blogger blog HERE, but the posts have all been migrated to my current website.)

The Blogger blog looked like this and this was the first day of it…

I love journaling. It is the way I muse about the world. I have lots of different kinds of journals and the blog is another one of those. When I started it was a rambling sort of thing about my experiences with tapestry and yarn. But after I started teaching in 2011 and especially when I started teaching online in 2014, it became another way to teach.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the years of this blog. It has given me back everything I’ve put into it and more and I hope it has sometimes been a friend to you as well.

Weaving is fun so let’s do another fifteen years, shall we?

The gallery below covers just a few of the things I’ve written about on the blog. If you click on the images, they’ll enlarge with captions and links. If you get the blog via email, you can find it online to see this gallery’s comments HERE.
